After booking her first appointment with the administrative team and verifying her eligibility, Maya met her Employment Specialist who helped her begin the journey of discovering her strengths and interests.

Together, they explored career options she hadn’t considered before—hospitality, retail, even early childhood education. Through resume-building workshops, mock interviews, and short-term skills training, Maya began to see herself as job-ready. She landed her first position with a hotel in Kamloops, supported with job-start essentials like a transit pass and interview clothing. With regular check-ins and encouragement from her Employment Specialist, Maya now sees this role as more than just a job—it’s her first step toward a future filled with possibilities with a local inclusive employer.
