Thriving with Customized Support
*Jason (name changed), a talented graphic designer living with a neurological disability, had faced multiple barriers trying to rejoin the workforce. Though skilled and motivated, many employers hesitated to offer him a chance due to concerns about accommodations and productivity. From the beginning, Jason felt things were different. After verifying his eligibility and meeting his Employment Specialist, he worked through a personalized employment plan that considered his unique strengths, challenges, and career goals. Open Door Group arranged a workplace assessment and introduced him to an inclusive employer looking for someone with Jason’s creative expertise.
With the help of a wage subsidy that offset part of his initial salary, the employer felt confident giving Jason a chance—and he didn’t disappoint. His role was further supported by job coaching and customized accommodations that allowed him to work in a way that suited his needs. The team at Open Door Group checked in regularly, ensuring that both Jason and the employer had what they needed to succeed.
