ICBC Drives Change through Inclusive Hiring
When it comes to inclusive hiring, ICBC is more than a participant—they're a leader. As an early employer partner of Canadian Partners in Workforce Innovation (CANWiN), ICBC has shown commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and conscious inclusion across their organization. Their dedication isn’t just policy—it’s action.
Recognizing an opportunity to strengthen inclusive hiring, ICBC proactively enhanced their recruitment strategy. They introduced a new recruitment system that allows them to better track outcomes for candidates with disabilities. With support from CANWiN, ICBC adopted the leading practice of launching “evergreen” job postings—keeping opportunities open and accessible year-round for candidates with disabilities.
But their efforts don’t stop there.
To ensure alignment between roles and potential talent, ICBC invited the CANWiN team for an in-depth tour of their facilities. This visit provided valuable insights into their work environment and job functions. The team met with department heads, hiring managers, and employees to better understand the skills and accommodations needed for each position.
In addition, ICBC demonstrates its commitment to accessible hiring through participation in CANWiN’s Four Pillars of Accessibility Training. Their leadership team collaborated to customize interview questions that align with inclusive hiring best practices—creating a recruitment process that is fair, welcoming, and free of barriers.
Through a combination of evergreen postings, a forward-thinking recruitment system, detailed site engagement, and inclusive hiring training, ICBC is setting a new standard for accessibility in BC’s workforce.
“We are proud to partner with ICBC and celebrate their remarkable success in leading the way for inclusive hiring,” says Jasmine Marchant, Inclusive Workforce Specialist at CANWiN.
