It offers a unique opportunity to connect with peers, friends, family, and supporters of mental health awareness!

About Conquering Waves:
For over 12 years, the Conquering Waves Dragon Boat Team has been on a mission to challenge the stigma surrounding mental health challenges. We bring together individuals facing these challenges, along with their friends, families, and supporters, to train weekly for 14 weeks and compete in the annual Vancouver Dragon Boat Festival. Our team practices take place every Saturday from 1:15 pm to 3:15 pm, starting March 23rd, 2024, at Creekside Community Center, 1 Athletes Way, Vancouver.

About the Festival:
The Vancouver Dragon Boat Festival is not just any event – it's North America's biggest, best, and most competitive racing festival. Organized by Dragon Boat BC, this festival offers three days of free entertainment, children's activities, art and cultural installations, interactive performances, shopping, and of course, dragon boat racing of the highest caliber. It's the perfect way to kick off your summer!
Join Our Team If You Are:
- Individuals aged 17+ with lived experience of mental illness or substance use, family members, or workers in the mental health field. Participants must currently live or work in the Vancouver Coastal Health service delivery area.
- Supportive team players who want to have fun, meet new friends, and connect with the community.
- Punctual and attentive team players! Our training sessions are every Saturday or Sunday starting March 23rd, 2024.
