Do You Want to Help Make Open Door Group More Accessible?

We are inviting community members in BC including those with lived experience of disability to join the Open Door Group Accessibility Advisory Committee.
Inspired by the ACCESSIBLE BC ACT, we are developing an accessibility committee with representation of people with disabilities, Indigenous Peoples, and which more broadly reflect the diversity of the BC population.
The Accessibility Advisory Committee will help Open Door Group to:
- Identify barriers to accessibility in the way we provide employment support services and other programs
- Provide recommendations on how to remove and prevent barriers
- Provide advice and feedback on Open Door Group’s Accessibility Plan
Selection Criteria
Applicants will be selected based on the following criteria:
- At least half of persons with disabilities
- Representing the diversity of persons with disabilities in BC
- At least two Indigenous persons including First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples.
- Job seekers and people with experience of Open Door Group services and programs.
- Diversity of perspectives represented but not limited to:
- Geographic representation across the Open Door Group service areas
- Cultural and language diversity
- Age
- Gender identity
Note: If the applicant pool doesn’t provide the diversity or lived experience representation required, Open Door Group may choose to hold some empty seats while further recruitment continues.
Remuneration
We recognize the effort and emotional labour that it requires for people to share their lived experiences in a committee, Open Door Group will provide a $100 honorarium per meeting to committee members who are not being paid by an employer to participate in the committee.
Time Commitment
The Committee will meet four times per year. Meetings will be 1.5 hours - 2 hours. Meetings will be held online.
