Gardengate Blooms with Kamloops Community at Annual Plant Sale!
Sunshine and smiles filled the air at the recent Gardengate Annual Plant Sale on May 11th and 18th! Over 300 passionate volunteers and community members came together to make the event a blooming success, connecting and giving back to the Kamloops community.
Imagine tables overflowing with vibrant vegetable, flower, and herb plants, along with stunning perennials. Eager gardeners browsed the selection, drawn not only by the healthy plants but also by the chance to support a wonderful cause.

All proceeds from the sale go directly to the Gardengate horticulture program. This program helps participants and volunteers on their paths to recovery and well-being. "Plant sales provide much-needed funding for the essentials and extras we need," explained Robert Wright, Gardengate Program Manager. "Thanks to past sales, we've been able to invest in irrigation systems, a tractor, and even our brand-new Gardengate Learning Center!"
The impact goes beyond financial support. The Plant Sale fosters a sense of community connection and show the public on the purpose of Gardengate: a space of healing and recovery for individuals living with addictions or mental health conditions, build skills and confidence, and support the food sustainability the Kamloops community. It also provides program participants and volunteers with valuable, real-life experiences in customer service and social interaction. For program volunteers, the sale is more than just volunteer work. "This event is like paradise for me!" shared D.K., a long-term volunteer (name changed). "I haven't laughed and talked this much with people in a long time!"
