After having a long-term role at a senior level in Vancouver, Jackie* had moved to a smaller town and found it challenging to find an equivalent job close to her new home. Many of the jobs that suited her skills were in the city and she wanted to avoid a long commute. Jackie came to WorkBC Squamish looking for assistance with her job search and to explore training opportunities in a new industry. Jackie received support and guidance in her job search strategy and career development, from learning how to optimize her resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn profile to working on her interview skills. Jackie’s employment advisor worked with her in learning the value of the skillset she already possessed that could transfer to other industries, and the value of confidence and marketing oneself. Once Jackie began her job search with a new strategy under her belt, she found greater success than she thought possible.
