Women in Trades Training: Carpentry & Joinery

There’s never been a better time for women to enter the trades.

Get ready for a career in carpentry and related skilled trades with WITT.  Learn about the trades industry, get relevant certifications, connect with potential employers, and receive one-on-one mentorship from trained employment facilitators and Red Seal carpenters.

Camille’s Story

Prior to joining WITT, Camille was working part time as a restaurant server. Camille had completed a science degree, but was unable to find any work that used her education, which left her feeling unfulfilled.

Want to know if the Women in Trades Training (WITT) Program is for you?  You are eligible for the program if:

  • You are a woman
  • You are legally able to work in Canada
  • You are unemployed or working < 20 hours per week
  • You are not a full-time student
  • You have not been on EI in the last 3 years
  • You have not been on Parental EI in the last 5 years

Carpentry: Kickstart Your Career

Prepare for a number of careers in construction and woodworking with Kickstart.

Receive hands-on instruction from Red Seal instructors. Learn how to use the latest hand tools, power tools and other equipment used in today’s construction and woodworking industry.  Gain basic certifications, develop skills, and receive one-on-one employment support to help you tap into the booming skilled trades industry.  This pre-apprenticeship program includes 100 shop hours.
