Jobs In Demand is going virtual!

Keeping up with the labour market isn’t easy.  That’s why Jobs in Demand is continuing to support you in developing relevant skills and further education for in-demand industries. 

Join one of our 4 FREE virtual 6 -week Jobs in Demand Programs, for residents of Kamloops or Sechelt:

 

  • Virtual Youth at Risk in Kamloops
  • Virtual Multi-Barriered in Kamloops
  • Virtual Multi-Barriered in Sechelt
  • Virtual Survivors of Violence and/or Abuse in Kamloops (this training is in partnership with Seasons Health Therapies)

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion, participants will develop:

  • Industry specific soft and essential skills training for the workplace
  • Personalized plan to support career success
  • Employability Skills training: Resume and Cover letter development, Networking and Marketing skills
  • Occupational Training Certificates (i.e. First Aid, WHMIS, NVCI, Food Safe, SuperHost, SAFE talk etc.)
  • Understanding of the labour market and personal career exploration
  • Support for accessing further funding for long term education

ELIGIBILITY.

There are four Virtual Jobs in Demand Programs. See which one is right for you:

For all 4 Programs:

  • You are legally able to work in Canada
  • You are unemployed or precariously employed (casual, temporary or unstable employment)
  • You are not a current full-time student
  • Ready to find your new career path

Virtual Youth Kamloops

  • 18-24 yrs.
  • Live in Kamloops
  • Have 1 or more barriers to employment**

Virtual Multi-Barriered Kamloops

  • All ages
  • Live in Kamloops
  • Have 2 or more barriers to employment**

Virtual Multi-Barriered Sechelt

  • All ages
  • Live in Sechelt
  • Have 2 or more barriers to employment**

Virtual RISE program for Surivors of Violence Kamloops

  • All ages
  • Live in Kamloops
  • Have been impacted by Violence and/or Abuse

**Types of barriers to employment at the time of intake:

  • housing instability
  • recovering from addiction
  • prior criminal justice involvement
  • mental health challenges
  • lack of social networks and connections
  • lack of recent and/or Canadian work experience
  • limited literacy skills
  • limited English language skills
  • low self-esteem
  • low income
