What is it?
A temporary financial bridge that can facilitate the on-going and sustained access to leisure, health and wellness pursuits in community based services at any stage of recovery. It is a maximum award of $150

Thrive

What is Thrive?


Thrive is a stepping stone for individuals living with a mental health condition. We offer one-to-one coaching and group programs that focus on personal development and successful community attachment (employment, volunteering, social engagements). Our unique and innovative programs are designed to enhance and develop individual's skills and interests.

We offer a large variety of programs that address various barriers and needs. Scroll down to see our program streams and examples.

THRIVE PROGRAM STREAMS


Leisure Education
• Programs that assist clients in utilizing previously acquired leisure skills or acquire and develop new leisure skills
• Programs that increase clients´ knowledge of community leisure resources for current or future leisure participation
Example Programs: Creative arts, Digital Photography/Picasa, Community exploration,

Personal Development
• Learn and develop personal strengths, values and what motivates you.
• Build confidence and self-esteem through developing a personal inventory
Example programs: Self-esteem, motivation, self-discovery, Positive thinking
 
Healthy Living & Physical Health
• Increase skills in nutrition and cooking
• Develop an understanding of skills around self-care
• Develop an inventory of coping skills to manage stress
• Learn what physical activities are a good fit for you and get connected to community
• Build skills and confidence in a particular physical activity
Example programs: Cooking 101, stress management, Self-care & image building, Biggest Winner, Gym orientation, Aqua fit, Yoga

Connections
• Develop and communication skills to improve relationships
• Develop personal networks
• Build confidence in social settings
Example programs: Communication 101, Assertiveness, Making connections, Shyness and Social anxiety
 
Education & Essential Skills
• Increase skills using a computer
• Develop more confidence when navigating the internet
• Develop more transferable employment computer skills
• Learn about “smart” phones and tablets (for personal and employment use)
• Develop the basic skills needed before moving into employment
• Develop more independent living skills
Example programs: Internet Workshops, Microsoft Office training, Computer Basics, Reading & writing 101

Employment Readiness
• Increase skills using a computer
• Develop more confidence when navigating the internet
• Develop more transferable employment computer skills
• Learn about “smart” phones and tablets (for personal and employment use)
• Develop the basic skills needed before moving into employment
• Develop more independent living skills
• Learn about your employability strengths and weaknesses
Example programs: Personal Growth (Pre-employment), Personal Development (Implicit Career Search), Empowerment.


Eligibility

To become a member of thrive participants must:
• Be a resident in Vancouver or Richmond
• Have a primary mental health diagnosis
• Be 17 years of age and older
There is no cost to eligible participants.

We strongly advise that you have your doctor or support worker complete our referral form before becoming a member of the Thrive program.

How to get started


Drop in to one of our orientation intake sessions. Orientation Sessions take place on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month from 1:00pm-2:00pm (no booking required).
