What is Open Door Group?
Open Door Group is a provincial, non-profit organization that helps people find employment and provides leisure and education services. Our full legal name is Open Door Social Services Society.

When are your orientations?
Some of our programs, for example JOB SIGHT, require participants to attend an orientation.

Can Open Door Group pay for my schooling/education/re-training?
Open Door Group offers employment programs. We provide assessments and assistance with resume writing, cover letters, and interview skills. Sometimes, if training is deemed necessary to acquiring employment, we can provide in-house training. Depending on your situation and program eligibility, we may be able to help you find on the job training, a Work Experience Placement or help paying for further training or education. What do I need to bring to my Intake appointment?
You can bring your doctor's contact information - a phone number is sufficient.
How long is the program?
Each program is different. Call our toll free number or
a location near to you for details.
Can you help me get hearing aids?
We can assist participants with certain supports that will help eliminate barriers to employment. Once in a program, you can discuss this with your counsellor.
Do participants need to have a diagnosed disability?
It depends on the program. For some programs you must have a diagnosed disability to participate.

Will you come with me when I get a job?
If you are in an Open Door Group employment program, we can go with you to your first day of work if you want us there and if we can arrange it with the employer. Some of our programs do offer more in-depth job coaching. For more information call us at 1-866-377-3760.
Do participants have to disclose their disability to an employer?
Not everyone is comfortable disclosing a disability and we never force anyone to do so. Some employers do ask for disclosure before hiring and if you are interested in a position with one of these employers, you would be given the choice to decide if you want to disclose and pursue the opportunity or not.
Do you provide child-care, either when I'm in your program or when I start working?
We don't provide childcare services at Open Door Group. Once you are participating in a program, some of your support money can be used towards child care while you are visiting our offices.
